Welcome

Welcome to the Allegro Winter Newsletter!

Winter is here and we’re all really looking forward to a new year with all of you at Allegro!

To get into the winter spirit we’ve got an update on what we have planned for the upcoming months.

Happy reading,

The Allegro Team

Allegro Christmas Party

We all had a blast at the Christmas party last night and we hope you all enjoyed it too.

Judging by the quantity of mulled wine, panettone and mince pies that were consumed it seems you must have done! We had Christmas games and festive tunes, and everyone was really in the holiday spirit. Thank you to everyone that attended and made the event so much fun.

We’ll be back with more fantastic events in the New Year. See below some of the things we have planned for 2023.

Meanwhile, everyone at Allegro would like to wish all our amazing residents a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Bring on 2023!

Annual Feedback Survey Competition

You will have seen that we have sent out our yearly feedback survey.

This year, to make it a little more exciting, we have offered a £100 amazon voucher as a prize! Please make sure that you get this completed before the deadline of the 31st of December to be in with a chance of winning.

2023 Charity Collections

Thank you so much to everyone that has donated so far. In 2023 we will continue with our foodbank and will be accepting donations from our lovely residents all year round.

We will be taking any food donations at the Concierge desk in Block 3 and deliveries will be made twice a month to a local foodbank. We know that our residents are a caring and generous bunch, so please do give what you can, if you can. The best things to donate are tinned items, toiletries, and other items with a long shelf life.

We will also be expanding Sunny’s ‘Share to Care Scheme’ where we will accept donations of small food packets to be handed out to those most in need.

Digbeth Indie Xmas Market

If you’re looking for some slightly different festive fun this year then this year’s Digbeth Indie Xmas Market might just be for you! Featuring amazing stalls from some of our city’s best indie creators and makers- plus live music, tasty street food, pottery experiences and more.

What to expect:

Indie stalls selling handmade, artisan crafts, trinkets, and gifts

Live festive music throughout the day

Delicious Vietnamese food from Viet Ventura

Options to pre-book onto a selection of experiences through Yuup, including: beer tasting and tours, pottery making and painting workshops.

Pop-up experiences can be booked here (entry to the market is included with these experiences):

You’ll have to be quick! As the market is going to be running on the Saturday the 17th of December!

If you do miss out then the Frankfurt Christmas Market will be running until the 24th of December at Victoria Square and New Street.

Chinese New Year

Welcome in the Year of the Rabbit at Allegro’s Chinese New Year Celebrations.

On Thursday the 19th of January 2023 we will be decorating our reception area and be handing out some delicious Chinese snacks to our residents from 4pm until 7pm.

We realise this is a little early, as the big day is actually on Sunday the 22nd of January, but we wanted to make sure that we don’t interrupt your weekend plans!

Valentine's Day Competition

We will be running a Valentine’s Day competition in February 2023 where you can win a £100 voucher for the restaurant of your choice.

Details of how to enter will be revealed nearer to the time!

Allegro Foodbank Grand Total for 2022

Thank you so much for your amazing work this year in donating a grand total of an incredible 650kg of food!! This has been an incredible effort and we’re so proud that our residents have been able to make such a difference for people in need this year.

The Trussell Trust, our foodbank charity, have been incredibly grateful for the donations; they are working hard to ensure that all the food and supplies are getting to the people that need them most.

If you would like to learn more about The Trussell Trust, and what your donations mean to the people that receive them, then please follow this link to their website: https://www.trusselltrust.org/

We’ll continue to do our part in helping to support people in need in 2023 and you should all feel very proud of your contributions this year.

Thank you so much.

Parcel Lockers and Allegro App

We’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank all of the residents who have signed up for our parcel collection service – and encourage any of you who haven’t to sign up. The service is really helpful in ensuring that you don’t miss any deliveries.

You can also arrange all manner of services through our fantastic Allegro App – so well worth a reminder for everyone to check in and see what’s going on.

You can arrange to have your apartment cleaned, to set up a pet-sitting service and to drop off and collect your dry cleaning, arrange a work out or book a personal trainer. You’ll also have access to exclusive offers from local businesses, and information about local events.

For anything that cannot be resolved via the App, the onsite Resident Services Team are available in the Hub. If you need help with anything, if you have suggestions as to how we can improve our services, or if there are events you’d like us to consider running please do get in touch.

Recycling

We know that a great many of our residents are passionate about the environment, and we want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to make Allegro a more environmentally conscious building.

Therefore, we’d like to again remind our residents to please make sure you break down your cardboard waste and put it into the correct bins. When large unbroken boxes go into the bins they take up a huge amount of space that could be filled and we end up with overflowing waste bins and fewer items can be recycled.

We’d like to thank all of the residents for their cooperation in this.

Waste Disposal

Waste Disposal

The volume of household waste being deposited in the bin stores is currently very high.

It is imperative that residents assist us by placing their waste in the correct bin and, where possible, compacting waste prior to depositing it in the bins. If you need assistance in disposing of unwanted items please think about using the Resident’s Marketplace on the App, or investigate whether the item can be collected by a local charity. Alternatively, you can take items to one of the local tips:

Castle Bromwich, based at Tameside Drive B35 7AG
Monday to Friday:8am to 6pm
Saturdays and Sundays:8am to 4pm

Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, B30 3JJ
Monday to Friday:8am to 6pm
Saturday and Sunday:8am to 4pm

Holford Drive, Perry Barr, B42 2TU
Monday to Friday:8am to 6pm
Saturday and Sunday:8am to 4pm

Norris Way, Sutton Coldfield, B75 7BB
Monday to Friday:8am to 6pm
Saturday and Sunday:8am to 4pm

James Road, Tyseley, B11 2BA
Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8am to 4pm.

Please note that the opening times may vary and we advise you check online before arriving.

We are continuing to monitor each bin store on a daily basis and will contact any individuals who leave large bulky items which the council will not collect to arrange that any cost incurred in their collection is reimbursed.
